About Us

This course came about for many reasons, but I can point to two very specific things in my life that motivated me to create the My Pink Money course and its teaching philosophy.

First, over many years of making presentations on behalf of nonprofit organizations for their women donors, I regularly discovered that women came up to me at breaks and after the sessions to ask the same question over and over.  “You are doing a great job of telling us effective ways of giving wealth for charitable purposes, but really, I need to build wealth first.  Can you provide information or classes on building that wealth?”  But I was too busy and perhaps too successful to stop and add that to my presentations.

Second, I got divorced.  A tsunami of depression crushed me.  My investments tanked in a bad market.  I felt I had to escape to an entirely new locale and felt totally lost.  In addition, I had to rebuild my career.  I lost my Dad, then I lost my Mom, who was always a great source of support for me during those very bad days.  As she aged and her health went downhill, one day I asked her on the phone,  “Mom, what will I ever do without you?”

She said, “Honey, you’ll have to learn how to take good care of yourself.  I won’t be here to help.”

Many factors led to what I call the “mental fatigue” in my life and in my career that broke me down.  The combination of all of those factors resulted in the loss of much of the asset base I built for my retirement.  Worse, I lost my desire to rebuild.

I awakened one day and discovered that I really needed to rebuild and do it fast.  Talking to other women, I realized how many have been or are in similar situations facing similar or worse challenges—having money and losing it, death, divorce, depression, debt, bankruptcy, foreclosure, or just a lifelong struggle to cover expenses and never getting ahead.

I stopped and reflected.  If I did it before, I could do it again. I succeeded, and I was doing extremely well.  What formula did I use previously?  Can I recapture that and do it again?  You read about so many men in business who have lost it all and set about to regain it, and succeed.

I said YES, I know how.  My mother taught me that you abandon yourself to the winds of fate when you run out of will power and determination.  Most women I know have great strength, willpower and determination.  I willed myself to grow my wealth garden again.  But this time, I would take a whole bunch of other women with me.

Then, unexpectedly, a young woman, Sarah Zuckerman, with whom I worked years ago in the past serendipitously came back into my life.  She called to say hello, and in our conversation, she told me her story of having fallen deeply into debt, how she climbed out of that abyss, and how she became productive, creative and happy.  I told her my story.

Together we have decided, through our experiences, to bring our formula for success to as many women as we can reach by combining our experiences and realigning My Pink Money for today’s woman.  We touch completely different generations due to our age differences, and yet there is a strong thread of commonality—just as there is from grandmother to mother to daughter in so many women’s lives.  We share a special woman’s world from generation to generation.

We hope you enjoy our formula for success—for women of all ages.

           With great respect,
